As leaders and Kenyans from different walks of life continue to support the move by ODM leader Raila Odinga to venture into the race for the post of African Union Commission chairperson, veteran politician Musikari Kombo is the latest to support Raila’s ambition.
Speaking to West Media digigtal in an exclusive conversation at his home in Lavington in Nairobi, Kombo said Raila Odinga has taken an appropriate step that will help this nation and the political arena in general by opening up opportunities for budding politicians to rise and take national leadership
Kombo, the politician who retired after serving as a Minister in the government of the third president of the republic of Kenya the late Mwai Kibaki. He also served the chairman of the Ford Kenya party. Kombo has called on the leaders of the Mulembe community to use this opportunity to come together and unite the community that a large part of it had been taken over by Mr. Odinga for a long time while opposing the notion that the opposition may disintegrate after Raila’s departure.
However, Kombo has accused the fading of the opposition wing MPs for not fulfilling their duties properly while allowing the government to pass its bills without objection, remembering how they performed their duties as MPs during the reign of retired president Daniel Arap Moi and Mwai Kibaki.
At the same time, Kombo has supported the leasing of the Nzoia sugar factory, saying that the main thing is to ensure that farmers are paid on time when they deliver their sugarcane. He went ahead to criticize current regime under President William Ruto for being in a hurry to charge Kenyans high taxes despite having better plans to benefit Kenyans
