The Kenya Union of Post Primary Education (KUPPET) Nandi county branch secretary Mr. Paul Rotich has decried high shortage of teachers in the county appealing to the National government through Teachers Service Commission to ensure they employ enough teachers in a bid to enhance quality education.
Speaking to journalists in Kapsabet town, Rotich cited that Nandi has a shortage of Four thousand teachers saying the wide gap has negatively affected the quality standards of education in the county insisting that the government should move with speed in filling the gaps by employing more teachers.
Rotich revealed that the shortage of teachers’ statistics in the region was alarming and that Teachers Service Commission should tackle the issue once and for all by employing more teachers to better the learning of students in learning institutions.
“As KUPPET officials from Nandi want the government to consider the needs for employing of enough teachers for better tomorrow of our students,” he affirmed.
The KUPPET secretary urged teachers and the entire school administration to ensure that Covid-19 protocols are duly followed to the latter.
“Teachers and school management fraternity should strictly adhere to the Ministry of health directives so as to curb the possible spread of the pandemic,” Rotich said.
He noted that learning institutions are now re- opening for third term period and extra care should be taken to ensure safety of students and teachers in schools.
