Kwanza MP Ferdinand Wanyonyi has congratulated Chief Justice Martha Koome for taking up the task to lead the judiciary in Kenya that will subsequently usher in her new assignments ahead, calling upon her to respect the rule of law and judiciary.
Wanyonyi while addressing the media at his Maridadi area in his constituency claimed that Chief Justice that served in the same capacity with hers before her made some ruling that went contrary to the constitution and other independent arms of government like national assembly claiming the former Chief Justice made some rulings that would have plunged the country in chaos when he ruled that the current national assembly was there unconstitutionally as it has not observed the two third Gender rule.
The former Chief Justice David Maraga made a ruling during his tenure that angered most legislators as he ruled that the current parliament was unconstitutional prompting LSK under its president Nelson Harvi that pushed for disbandment of the assembly as it was operating
unconstitutionally.
Wanyonyi called upon the new Chief Justice this time round to be conversant with the constitution while making ruling and avoid infringing on the rights of independence of other arms of the Government.
He however promised to work together with the new Chief Justice calling upon her to work together with the national government in frequent consultation for good working relationship of the two arms of the government to avoid future collisions.
Wanyonyi called upon the Council of Governors who are in Kwale Mombasa at the moment who are deliberating on some of the functions that were devolved and have failed to contemplate on pushing some functions especially health back to the national government claiming County governments have failed the sector..
He noted that despite the government pumping a lot of cash to Counties for development most projects that were formally initiated by CDF in various constituencies like construction of health centers have failed.
“Have you seen dispensaries in this constituency that has been put up by the county government,” posed Wanyonyi.
He stated that most projects within the county and especially in his constituency that he initiated among them construction of health centers has failed to prosper as the county government has reneged.
