Residents of Laini Moja in Milima ward of Tongaren constituency, are an angry lot in an incident where an area resident Fred Wakhungu was found dead outside his house with injuries over his body in what they are linking to murder.
The residents say it is unfortunate that the late whose home is a few meters from the home of the Chairman of the National Police Service commission Johnstone Kavuludi had to die in such unclear circumstances saying they demand a quick probe in the matter.
Judith Malemo a human rights activist from the area, blamed the police for not having arrested anyone so far linked to the incident saying it is not the first incident to occur and the residents are living in fear.
They further demanded a total overhaul of the police at the Mukuyuni police post led by the OCPD Eliud Okello saying he has overstayed at the station and want a new police boss who is more energetic to tackle issues of insecurity that have rocked the area for long.
Eliud Khisa brother to the late Fred claims the police have not been committed to pursuing the case saying the prime suspect, a lady named Violet who was doing business with his brother is on the run yet police claim she wrote a statement at the office yet it is not true.
He added that the police have not come out clearly on the whereabouts of the lady after the incident saying as family members they are not contented with the investigations so far yet the late was the sole bread winner to his family and now are helpless.
Efforts by the residents to be addressed by the OCPD hit a snag after police hurled tear gas at them as the OCPD said they were not cooperative to have their issues addressed saying he wanted those with relevant information to record statements.
The scuffle led to some residents being injured and some members of the press got their equipment destroyed as the police used excessive force.
