Lands CS Farida Karoney’s father Edward Karoney has been laid to rest in his home in Kamobo, in Emgwen, Nandi County with calls to pray for the nation taking center stage among the political leaders in attendance. The leaders present, who included Nandi Governor Stephen Sang, who delivered a message of condolence from Deputy President William Ruto, Uasin Gishu Governor Jackson Mandago, cabinet secretaries led by Education CS Prof. George Magoha, Energy CS Charles Keter among others called for peace and said Kenyans should to put aside their political differences and pray for the country’s peace and unity.
Energy cabinet secretary Charles Keter, who read President Uhuru Kenyatta’s speech, said that the country needs lots of prayers. Leaders also asked the government in partnership with the traffic police to consider sensitizing the boda boda operators on rules and regulations concerning the road safety so as to reduce cases of road accidents. Lands CS Farida Karoney eulogized her late father as an icon who transformed many lives through farming and plenty of good deeds. She lauded the government, and the Nandi County leadership for standing with her family and planning the funeral in the shortest time possible. The late Edward Karoney was knocked down by a motorbike on Tuesday evening when he was trying to cross the road and was pronounced dead on arrival to Kapsabet County referral Hospital.
