Vihiga Governor Wilber Ottichilo has said a bill has been drafted to ensure Community Health Volunteers (CHVs) are fully employed by the County Government to improve health services in the County.
Speaking when he opened a new maternity wing at Mulele dispensary in Lugaga-Wamuluma ward he added that a bill has been presented in the County Assembly and when it shall be passed CHVs will now be referred to as the Community Health Workers.
Otticholo noted that once they are employed, they will get increased allowances to give them morale to work harder to improve health services in the area.
He said the Community Health Volunteers are very important in the health sector noting that they must be well equipped to perform their duties well.
The County Boss reiterated the need to improve health services by making sure all health facilities are well equipped, have enough personnel and drugs.
“Am pleased to say that our Health facilities have enough drugs to ensure locals get good health services and that’s my priority.” He said.
