West Pokot Governor Simon Kachapin has asked contractors who have been awarded contracts to ensure the projects are completed within stipulated time frame.
Kachapin said the county had set aside funds for setting up various projects in the region and they did not want them to be delayed because of laziness of contractors.
“All projects have been prioritized this financial year the projects must be completed within this year,” he said.
Speaking at Bendera Centre when he official laid down foundation stone of a 12 million market project, he said his government will not coddle lazy and corrupt contractors.
He said those who will not be able to carry out their work as per the requirements their contractors will be revoked.
“My officers will be monitoring the progress of the projects. Those who will be moving at a slow pace their contractors will also be revoked,” warned Kachapin.
The county boss stressed that his government will not pay contractors who will do shoddy work.
“We need value for the funds of tax payers. I will not accept any contractor to be paid if he does shoddy work,” he said.

Kachapin said that in the past he has been able to sack lazy and corrupt officers from his government and warned contractors against looting government resources.
The county boss has also asked residents to report when they see county official misusing county resources especially vehicles.
“If you see county vehicles loitering at night please report so that the vehicle can be arrested. We don’t want to misuse government resources. We have many projects that we need to implement and we should help each other in managing our resources,” he said.
He also asked politicians in the region to engage in decent politics that will help develop the region.
“Bad politics that involves inciting residents against other leaders will not help. Let’s sell our ideologies without hatred for the betterment of our county,” he said.
