Trans Nzoia County Commissioner Samson Ojwang has urged leaders to shun politicking and propagating divisive messages. Speaking when he hosted the Trans Nzoia County Peace Committee led by the chair Nathaniel Chesang, Commissioner Ojwang warned politicians who are spreading a tribal and divisive message and urged them to tone down their political rhetoric. He said any politician who’ll be found propagating a hate and tribal message will be dealt with according to the law.
He also warned against early campaigning, with leaders setting their eyes on Assembly seats and the gubernatorial position. He advised those politicians keen on contesting for various seats in 2022 to tone down and give the elected leaders time to perform their duties, “We already have elected leaders in this County. Let those who’ve been elected be given the time to deliver the promises they made to the electorate.”
His sentiments were echoed by Nathaniel Chesang who urged residents to avoid being used by politicians for their political gains but instead embrace each other in nation-building and peaceful co-existence. The Trans Nzoia County Commissioner further expressed satisfaction with the just concluded census exercise in Trans Nzoia. According to Ojwang, only a small percentage of the population didn’t take part in the exercise.
