The calls for national heroes to be honored reverberated once again at the burial of football legend Joe Kadenge, with Raila Odinga affirming that city stadium will be named after the late legendary footballer. Speaking at Gisambai primary school in Vihiga, during the burial, Raila said there is a reason why City Stadium was chosen, citing a monumental goal scored by Kadenge against Uganda at the stadium.
Bungoma Senator Moses Wetangula said Joe Kadenge leaves an unequal legacy. He said parliament must sort out the Heroes Act and draft the regulations, adding that it must be broad enough to cater for every hero and heroine in Kenya.
On his part, Bungoma Governor Wycliffe Wangamati said he is ready to step in and help solve the woes that have grappled AFC Leopards. “I want to tell Dan Shikanda and my friend Senator Sakaja that I will look for away of bringing together the five Governors of Western Kenya to support AFC Leopards,” he said. The legendary footballer will be remembered as arguably the best footballer Kenya ever had, and his influence in the game will never go unnoticed.
