Education CS George Magoha has announced the reopening of universities and tertiary institutions with effect from Monday 5th October. In a statement on Tuesday, CS Magoha said final year students in the universities and tertiary institutions will be the first to report back on Monday for in-person learning.
He said the boards of TTCs, Tvets, University Councils and Senates will then announce the resumption dates of in-person learning for other classes with priority being given to students who are undertaking science classes. All institutions that were used as designated quarantine facilities will be fumigated prior to their reopening.
The CS said resumption of in-person learning in all Universities and Tertiary Institutions will require strict adherence to the Ministry of Health protocols and guidelines. All tertiary institutions and universities have been directed to get linked to the health facility prior to reopening and education officials in conjunction with public health officials will continuously monitor and review the level of compliance.
