As the Coronavirus keeps on spreading across the country, it was a relief to 28 orphans from Lela Children’s home in Kamukuywa after they received food and non food items. Speaking during the donation, the home’s Matron Annet Mabuka says it was as a result of a request of the home’s director Justus Mabuka to the sponsors who are Agape in action, and a meal a day, who accepted to help the orphans during this tough moment.
She disclosed that the home has a total of 71 orphans but because of the Coronavirus pandemic, 28 of them were forced to go back and stay with their guardians hence the donation will go towards their well being at home. Area chief Lorna applauded the institution’s management for having put in place measures to help the orphans saying the donation will come in handy to cushion the children as well as those taking care of them.
However she called upon parents to take care of their children during this season as they remain at home saying they should not fall victim to cases of early pregnancies. She added that they should engage them in domestic chores as well as take them through online curriculum classes.
