Nakuru Regional coordinator Wanyama Musiambo has directed the local leaders and the security team in Nandi to make sure that the culture of illicit brewing in the region comes to a halt before the end of August this year saying that failure to curb the menace, they will hold them answerable.
Addressing the public at Chemundu area during the official launch and commissioning of the new Chesumei sub-county headquarters, Musiambo made it clear that the government has declared that the nation will not condone illicit killer brews and crimes thus commanded the chiefs in partnership with the security to bring this vice to an end before the end of August.
He said that the government is working hard to tame the vice and has given a directive for the respective bodies to clear the culture before August end when the nation will be declared free of liquor.
The Regional coordinator urged the residents of chesumei sub-county to utilize the headquarters well as services will be nearer to them and security boosted thus will improve business activities in the region.
Chesumei – sub county was formed by a gazette notice of 11th January 2013 and curved out mainly from Nandi Central sub-county.
The sub- county comprises of 16 Locations and 37 sub – locations and has one gazetted Division known as Kosirai which covers an area of 122km2.
The sub -county is headed by the new DC Mr Ngura Mwamachi who was applauded by the local residents for the good job he is doing for them adding that since he took the office, security in the area has been boosted.
On the other hand, Nandi county commissioner Lucy Mulili urged the residents to work together with the DC for the prosperity of the region and to embrace the Nyumba kumi initiative for their safety.
