Locals from Kiminini Sub County of Trans Nzoia have petitioned the County Assembly to upgrade Kiminini market to a Municipality level.
Led by Barasa Wabwoba they claimed the market has more than 100,000 people and that it has taken long in its current status of that has denied them several services necessary at the area.
Speaking after presenting of a petition to the assembly for consideration they claimed they presented the same petition to MCAs two months ago and that their follow-up in the assembly has shocked them as they have not acted upon the first petition.
They blamed MCAs for not acting upon their petitions noting that they even declined to meet them to date under pretext that they were busy.
The locals noted that currently they are not enjoying several services including clean water, sewerage as well as funding from World bank and African Bank that has been funding some other municipalities like in Bungoma and West Pokot counties claiming so far Bungoma has four Municipalities as well as West pokot that has two Municipalities and are being funded by World Bank.
On their part, County Administration through Emmanuel Masika community liaison officer has insisted that they were in a process of acquiring town charter before elevating it to Municipality.
They claimed that once it’s elevated to town then municipality will draw funding from several funding monetary agencies including World Bank.
