Lake Region Economic Bloc (LREB) chairman Governor Dr Wycliffe Oparanya has asked President Uhuru Kenyatta to lockdown three Counties to contain spread of Covid-19.
He said the Head of State should order for cessation of movement in and out of Kisumu, Siaya and Homa Bay Counties following high numbers of Covid-19 infections being recorded.
“We met as Governors from LREB and our suggestion is to lockdown the three counties to combat spread of the virus to other neighboring counties,” said Governor Oparanya.
He noted that Covid-19 is serious urging people to strictly observe Covid-19 protocols put in place by the Government.
“We have lost people who are close to us to this virus and to contain it we must all observe measures put in place,” he said.
Kisumu County is recording high numbers of the virus linked to Indian variant which experts say it spreads faster.
