Kacheliba Member of Parliament Mr. Mark Lomunokol has called for a repeat of West Pokot county Jubilee party interim officials elections citing irregularities with the formula used.
The MP said that the elections were not conducted in a free, fair, and transparent manner since some of those who participated were not members of the party.
Lomunokol accused the party secretariat of allowing some members of county assembly representatives from other parties, which are not affiliated to the Jubilee party, to participate in the process.
“I am disappointed about the recent Jubilee county interim election that was done on 16th December. Some MCAS from other parties participated. The Suam Ward MCA from ODM, the nominated Federal Party MCA and nominated National Vision Party MCA participated,” said
Lomunokol.
“We just kept quite because we didn’t want to cause chaos. We want the repeat of the elections in the county for all of us to be satisfied,” Lomukonol said.
Speaking yesterday in his constituency, Lomunokol observed that some individuals had intentions of rigging the elections.
“Those people should resign and defect publicly from their parties in order for their parties to take the necessary disciplinary action,” he said.
He said that the executive officer of the Jubilee party who was in charge of the elections Albert Memusi was compromised to accept individuals who are not party members.
“Why did he allow members from the parties that have not merged with Jubilee? They should not lie to residents that the elections were done fairly,” he noted.
Lomunokol alleged that Sigor MP Phillip Rotino was not given a chance to participate in the elections.
