West Pokot Governor John Lonyangapuo has dared his absentee Deputy Governor Dr. Nicholas Atudonyang to come and vie for the County’s gubernatorial seat.
The County boss faulted Dr. Atudonyang for disrespecting him together with area residents for abandoning his duties.
Dr. Atudonyang who is a neurosurgeon in the United States of America has been missing in the County since 2018 and now has indicated signs to unseat his boss in the coming August general elections.
Prof Lonyangapuo cited that West Pokot County residents gave Dr. Atudonyang a chance to serve them as their Deputy Governor but later abused it.
“He was given a chance but started disrespecting people and even got lost. Am the master player of politics and I did pure, applied mathematics from Leads University. I am the one who carried all these people fighting me now,” he said.
He noted that Dr. Atundonyang cannot be entrusted by the electorate for having not done any development in the County.
“We have heard that you are coming, come faster with your money and I will give you a run of your money,” said Prof Lonyangapuo.
Governor Lonyangapuo also took a swipe at the Senate majority leader Samuel Poghisio who is also the County senator for teaming up with his Deputy and other leaders in the county in fighting his government.
He pointed out that Senator Poghisio is an intriguer and propagandist who has been criticizing his government by spreading lies in different government agencies over graft claims.
“I helped him to be Senator and he is always going to different offices and saying wrong things about my government. This is a wasted Senator because instead of defending the projects we have started he is busy fighting me in the Senate,” said Governor Lonyangapuo.
The County boss also hit out at West Pokot former Governor Simon Kachapin who recently resigned as the Sports Chief Administrative Secretary (CAS) with the aim of reclaiming his seat.
Speaking when he visited people from the Pokot community staying at Siwakat area in the neighboring Trans-Nzoia County, Governor Lonyangapuo cited that people who are aspiring for political seats in the region should campaign with an agenda of peace and development.
“Most MPs from the County have gone to the UDA party and they must do development. Manifesto and Agenda of those interested in leadership should be on peace, development, education and God,” he said.
He cited that those fighting him will not win any elective seat in the County calling on those with the same ideas like him to join him.
Governor Lonyangapuo who drummed up support for his new Kenya Union Party (KUP) said that the party has members and aspirants in all counties across the Country.
“We have told our aspirants that their manifesto and agenda should be on peace and development,” he said.
He warned politicians from the area over bringing division and hatred among residents in the County.
On his part, Dr. Atudonyang said Lonyangapuo had failed to deliver on his promises to the residents of West Pokot and had started to deflect by blaming him.
“He has a bad strategy, and he cannot force things. Let him follow the rules, regulations, laws and the constitution,” he said.
The US based tycoon said he has on several occasions advised the governor on issues pertaining to the county, but he has given him a deaf ear.
“If things don’t work out his way he has to find someone to blame,” he said.
Dr. Atudonyang said he will continue speaking for people he described as disadvantaged and dehumanized.
“When it comes to injustice, there is no neutral stance. It’s either we are on the side of the oppressor or on the side of the oppressed,” the deputy governor said.
Dr. Atudonyang who left the Country in the beginning of 2018 confirmed that he is soon coming back.
