There was a low voter turnout in many parts of the country as the repeat presidential elections kicked off. The polling stations were set to open at 6:00 am, but due to rainfall in some areas including Nairobi, the exercise was delayed.
However, despite the calm after the rain, voters still didn’t turn out to vote, especially when compared to the turn out in the August polls. This comes after NASA leader Raila Odinga urged supporters to stay at home and keep away from polling stations. The situation was blurry in parts like Kisumu and Siaya Counties and Kibra in Nairobi as youths and police were involved in tussles and running battles.
