The official opening of Labour Party of Kenya (LPK) offices was done in Budalangi constituency in Busia County where seven LPK offices were opened in the county.
Among the opened offices includes MauMau, Mudembi, Budalangi market office and Port Victoria office.
Party leader, who is also the MP for Budalangi Hon.Ababu Namwamba led both the national and local leaders of the party who were present at the ceremony.
The climax of the ceremony was at Port Victoria where thousands of residents came in large numbers to welcome Namwamba’s LPK party at home. They declared in one accord to vote him in the next general election as their Member of Parliament for the third time.
Speaking during the event, Namwamba said that LPK is a strong party that will grow into a big political party in Kenya.
“I wish to assure the residents of Busia County and Kenya at large that this party will turn out to be the best and with many followers by 2017.”
Namwamba furthermore condemned the opposition party of being biased in fighting corruption in the country. He said that he is not pleased at all because the opposition leader Hon Raila Odinga who was some months ago his leader before he resigned as the ODM secretary general, condemns corruption in the Jubilee regime but spares Governors who allied to him and who have squandered huge sums of money which is meant to help Kenyans.
“I take this chance to condemn the way at which the opposition leader Hon. Raila Odinga is trying to fight corruption with a lot of bias. He is always in front condemning the Jubilee government but he does not condemn CORD Governors who are even worse. Why is he defending them? If he wants to be a good leader, he should stop looking corruption from the far end and start fighting it from his allies.”
He added that Busia is a sovereign county whereby voters are wise and have powers to choose their leaders whom they believe have wisdom and knowledge to rule them.
Namwamba said that he will still vie for Budalangi MP’s seat in the forthcoming elections to prove to his political rivals that he necessarily does not need them to in any way campaign for him in order to secure that seat.
He asked politicians in the region and the country at large to practice political tolerance, promising to let anyone be it from CORD or Jubilee to campaign in his constituency.
Ababu was also crowned as the member of elders’ council of Banyala by the chair of the council who assured him that they will vote for him in the forthcoming General Election.
LPK Secretary General David Makali urged Kenyans to maintain peace during the campaign and also during the next year’s General Election. He said that LPK is the best party to join since it accommodates anyone irrespective of age, tribe or political backgrounds.
The party will continue with its marketing and campaigning programs. They are expected to be in Kajiado next weekend led by Hon Namwamba.
Namwamba left ODM party later re-branding and launching his Labour Party of Kenya on 22nd August 2016 and since then he has been out marketing the party.
