The Law Society of Kenya (LSK) President Nelson Havi has served vacate notices to the speakers of the National Assembly and the Senate, in accordance with their ‘Occupy Parliament’ push. Havi said the push is to ensure Parliament is dissolved according to Chief Justice David Maraga’s advisory to President Uhuru Kenyatta over the same issued on September 21.
On Monday afternoon, Havi accompanied by United Green Movement’s Jonathan Mueke and a handful of other LSK members marched to Parliament buildings but security officers said only two officials could access the premises due to Covid-19 regulations to present vacate notices. Havi had pointed out that LSK would lead Kenyans to occupy Parliament today, saying legislators are in office illegally as the time to implement Maraga’s advisory has already elapsed.
