President Dr. William Ruto on Wednesday presided over the launch of the new modern market in Luanda Sub-County in Vihiga County.
The launch of the new market was met with a lot of backlash from the residents and business community, most of which were forcefully moved from their business units through demolishing for a new market set up.
The new modern market is expected to cost three hundred and sixty five million [365.7 million]. He also asked the contractor to offer an optional space for the business community as the new market construction continues.
A few leaders who got the chance to speak during the launch asked the President to intervene and help in the completion of projects he had launched earlier including the stone crushing company at Ebuyangu
The President used the platform to hit at his opponents whom he said are preaching the gospel of tribalism toKenyans instead of focusing on development.
The Prime Cabinet Secretary who among other leaders who joined the President in the launch of the market said that the government is spearheading a transformative initiative to uplift Kenyan traders by establishing over 400 safe, secure, and modern market places.
