Boda Boda operators in Lugari Constituency have committed to embrace peace and shun violence ahead of the August 9th polls.
Speaking in Lumakanda, the operators led by their Spokesperson John Yagwai, said they will not accept to be swayed into divisive politics by rogue politicians who are perpetrators of chaos.
The riders said they will rally their support behind law abiding aspirants and advocate for peace before, during and after the elections.
“We will not accept to be used by political aspirants who are seeking various elective positions to cause chaos. We say no to violence and we will stand for peace,” said Yagwai.
The riders cautioned the political aspirants to desist from careless utterances that might spark violence urging them to advocate for issue based politics for the sake of peace and unity.
“We should all embrace political tolerance regardless of our political affiliations, let the message of peace be amplified in the lead up, during and after elections,” said Erickson Khaoya.
The riders used the opportunity to thank United Democratic Party leader Cyrus Jirongo for recognizing them and appointing one of them to be one of the party officials in the area.
“We thank Jirongo for appointing Laisa Mark Walubengo as acting UDP party organizing secretary,” they said.
