Boda boda operators in Lugari Sub County have vowed to support deputy president Dr. William Ruto’s presidential bid in the 2022 general elections.
Speaking during a meeting held at St. Kizito Catholic Church Panpaper in Mautuma ward that brought together boda boda officials drawn from across the the sub county and attended by DP’s representatives, the operators listed several challenges facing the sector arguing that only Ruto was better placed address them.
With close to 2,000 boda bodas operating within the sub county, they said only about 200 owned motorbikes with majority being employed and always harassed by their bosses.
They appealed to the DP to help them through their various groups to get motorbikes and be self-employed.
The also complained of poor road network in the sub county saying it has negatively impacted on their business.
However they vowed to rally their support behind Ruto by enthusiastically campaigning for him to ensure he emerges victorious in the forthcoming elections.
They said the DP has a strong support across the country and that is why he was being fought by his opponents who fear losing to him.
Ms. Susan Chepkoech and Rhoda Chelagat who represented the DP promised to forward their requests for concideration.
They said a team of MPs and other leaders allied to the DP’s camp will tour the area and meet the operators first before the DP visits them later to give his support.
