The ruling Jubilee party has suffered a major blow after all its officials from the Lugari branch decamped to United Democratic Alliance Party (UDA) which is affiliated to the deputy president Dr. William Ruto.
Speaking during a meeting held at Bel Canto Hotel in Mwamba that brought together officials from all the six wards under the chairmanship of the branch chair Mr. Moses Sikolia, the officials announced formally ditching the Jubilee party.
The defectors pledged their loyalty and support to the deputy president Dr. Ruto ahead of next year’s general elections.
Mr. Sikolia said they have laid strategies to popularize the party in the area and ensure it attracts more supporters.
He said already a number of aspirants from wards and parliamentary seats have been identified calling for more aspirants to join UDA assuring them of a free and fair nomination exercise ahead of next year’s elections.
Expressing their confidence that Ruto will emerge with victory, the defectors urged area residents to massively join and seek UDA membership in order to strengthen its grassroots support and part of the next government.
