The DCI office in Lugari Sub County has launched investigations into the mysterious disappearance of a driver who went missing in the wee hours of Friday morning living a lorry by the road side near Lumakanda junction.
Confirming the incident Lugari Sub County Police Commander Patrick Maundu said the driver identified as Silvanus Adera Busieka (37) left his home within Vumilia village in Munyuki sub location at about 2:45am to collect firewood near Lugari primary school for delivery to Kuywa Girls Secondary school in Bungoma County.
However, the driver is said to have communicated with the lorry owner Mr. Lewis Wamalwa informing him that he had been arrested by police officers from Lumakanda and they were heading to the station.
Later his phone went off forcing the lorry owner together with the driver’s brother Mr. John Musundi Busieka to visit the station to find out why he had been arrested but on reaching the station neither the lorry nor him was at the station.
They booked the incident at the station before launching a search for him at about 4:30 am whereby after covering a distance of about 3kms from Lumakanda police station they found the vehicle Reg. No KAS 447V Isuzu NPR abandoned along Lumakanda–Kipkaren road.
According to the SCPC the lorry was found intact with ignition keys inside the cabin, but the driver was missing.
The was lorry driven to Lumakanda police station as the case was referred to the DCI department for investigations.
