Lugulu Mission hospital under Friends church stewardship has got a boost after receiving 25 beds and mattresses from Misikhu ward MCA Milliah Masungo with the support of the Ministry of Health in Bungoma County.
Addressing the media at the hospital premises after handing over the beds and mattresses, Hon. Masungo said they may not be enough but will go along way to help the hospital which has been experiencing influx of referrals from the neighboring hospitals, health centers and dispensaries.
She appealed for the well-wishers to step in and support the hospital which has really improved in terms of service and that its bed capacity is a serious challenge as it can’t accommodate many patients.
“I want to appreciate the good services being offered here but as any other institution, it’s going through hard moments with lack of enough beds and mattresses and other essential items and we appeal to any well-wisher to come to the aid of this facility so that it can give better services to the community and the neighboring counties,” said Hon.Masungo.
However, she asked the hospital management to take great care of the items received as it may take long to get more.
On his part, Chief Officer in the office of the Governor in Bungoma County, Isaac Mukenya affirmed that there is need for the private health facilities to work together with the County and National government for the betterment of services and said they will try to get more technicians who will be posted to the facility to assist because the hospital doesn’t have enough human resource.
He asked County health workers to sacrifice in terms of service delivery and serve patients well to reduce death cases.
The hospital management led by board of management member Mr. Beneya Sisungo appreciated the items donated by Hon. Masungo but said the facility is still undergoing many challenges as he requested for more support from the government and well wishers.
