Lugulu Girls High School has been closed indefinitely after students held demonstrations on Tuesday over an alleged an defilement case in the school. According to director of education of Webuye West sub county Mrs Adelight Mbakulo, the school management and the Education ministry arrived at the decision after wide consultations with relevant stakeholders.
She said this was to pave way for serious investigations on the issues raised by the students while at Webuye police station, which she noted are weighty and require time to look into. She urged parents to inform the school amangement when their children reach home just to be sure of their safety. The school has 306 Form Four candidates.
However, she said that the reopening date will be communicated later, while at the same time urging parents to take care of the girls well during this festive season. All students left the school on Wednesday morning.
