Governor Wycliffe Wangamati has announced that the tarmacking of Lugulu – Lukusi – Makuselwa road is set to commence after KERRA advertised the tendering of the road in local dailies today even as he appreciated the President, H.E Uhuru Kenyatta for it’s approval. Wangamati said this was after a meeting he had with the President and he requested the tarmacking of Lugulu -Lukusi – Makuselwa road He added that he is happy the road has been advertised for as after it’s completion it will benefit a great deal for the people of Bungoma county especially those from Webuye east sub county who don’t have any tarmacked road across the constituency.
The county boss was speaking in Makuva Village, Mihuu, Webuye East where he joined the family and residents of Mihuu in paying his last respect to Mzee Samson Buchunju, father to Chief Officer for ICT Bungoma County Government Ms. Phoebe Buchunju. He insisted that the road will have a new contractor saying the one who did Naitiri – Brigadier road was too slow and they will not accept him to partake the remaining work. He also said that the road from Brigdier to Matunda in Kakamega county will also be tarmacked courtesy of his close relationship with the President.
Wangamati said Webuye is set to be a municipality and plans are at top gear and soon he will be sending the bill to parliament for approval by the MCAs terming it as a major boost to business community. This is because the town will get more development in terms of infrastructure, which will increase circulation of money in town and provide a platform for more employment. He added that all developments happening in wards are his initiative and MCAs should not lie to the community since all projects need hon nod for them to proceed, but seemingly some MCAs are not happy among them Lwandanyi MCA Mr. Tony Barasa who said its a collective responsibility as MCAs have to approve the budget bill before money is used and it should not be treated as only the governor is supposed to take credit. He said in any case the money is not coming from personal pocket but its from the exchequer which is taxpayers money.
On his part Ndivisi MCA Martin Wanyonyi asked the county boss to intervene and make sure that the road from Lukusi to Lugulu is also considered for tarmacking as its a small part remaining to connect to the main tarmacked road from Kitale to Webuye. He says that will play a very important role to the business community and other road users especially from Webuye east sub county. On her side chief officer Phoebe Buchunju eulogised her father as a hard working person who valued education so much adding that she will also miss his kind wisdom that guided the family line and thanked the county government of Bungoma for giving her support.
