Political leaders from the Luhya community have been urged to make a wise decision that will ensure the community forms part of the next government.
Speaking in Lugari, the Kenya National Private Security Workers’ Union (KNPSWU) Secretary General, Isaac Andabwa said as the country draws into next year’s polls, there seems to be no clear inspiring leadership from the community to solidify the region to take a common course.
He said Deputy President Dr. William Ruto and ODM party leader, Raila Odinga are the only preferred candidates to tackle the presidential bid in the forthcoming general elections.
He appealed to ANC party leader Musalia Mudavadi, Bungoma senator Moses Wetangula, former Lugari MP Cyrus Jirongo and other presidential aspirants from Western region to stop wasting time and support either Raila Odinga or DP William Ruto.
“Leaders from Western should gauge who is fit to clinch the presidential seat and rally behind one with your conditions and development agenda to ensure we get into the next government. The candidates are traversing all counties to sell their agenda thus making them more popular,” he noted.
The official has also warned Kenyans against accepting bribes from politicians in the voter registration exercise.
“Youths and the elderly should come out in large numbers and register as voters. Getting handouts from politicians is a wrong decision thus promoting corruption which is a burden to the country. Let’s gauge leaders through development agenda and not how much they are giving to voters to exercise your democratic right,” concluded Andabwa.
