Despite having the highest number of candidates in 2021 KCPE examinations, Lumakanda Township Primary a public school in Lugari Sub County registered a sterling performance trouncing most public and private schools in the Sub County.
According to the school head teacher, Paul Simiyu out of a total of 203 KCPE candidates in the year 2021, over 130 managed to score above the 250 pass mark, this being some of the best results posted by the school for years.
Simiyu said since he joined the school in 2018, last year’s results were the best compared with the number of candidates the school registered.
He thanked teachers, parents and the entire school fraternity for their teamwork and support towards the achievement of the stellar results.
“Every year since 2018 the school has been posting results with positive deviation and this year was the best despite the highest candidate’s enrollment ever,” he said
The head teacher also thanked the Sub-County education officials who were constant reminders and source of encouragement for teachers and even parents’ achievement of best results.
The school’s first pupil in last year’s KCPE scored 399 marks. 81 boys and 121 girls registered for the exam. 55 pupils scored above 300 marks.
Simiyu however called on the leaders and concerned bodies on student sponsorship to be ready to provide their help to the students joining form one because the majority who have qualified come from poor backgrounds.
He said government and non-state student sponsorship bodies should get more background information about students to be helped.
The head teacher revealed that bright and needy students are normally left out every year because sponsors did not get the right information about their family and financial background.
