Bungoma Governor Kenneth Lusaka has warned his close allies eyeing the Jubilee party ticket in the next general election for different posts that they have to struggle to show their popularity so as to be nominated saying he will not influence the nomination of any candidate.
Addressing residents of Maeni after presiding over a launch of cattle rearing project initiated by Maeni boda boda group, Lusaka said all the candidates will be subjected to a free and fair nomination process and the popular candidate according to party members will be awarded the ticket.
He added that as a party they don’t want to risk presenting a weak candidate for any post saying they are focused on scooping majority of the seats in all the categories of posts across the country and have to be sure of the candidates they are presenting to the electorates.
He added that as Jubilee party they are holding grass root meetings with party members as well as aspirants as part of their strategy to strengthen the party ahead of the general election next year saying they have to be sure of being part of the government.
“After being proposed as the party chairman I will be third in command for Jubilee party and the Bungoma senator is also in the same position in the CORD coalition so let us struggle on behalf of our people, the one who will emerge the winner let him bring development to our people,” he said.
Governor Lusaka applauded the efforts of Maeni ward MCA Florence Wekesa saying despite her not being in the Jubilee party, she has always been on the forefront to push for development projects on behalf of Maeni ward people.
The MCA called upon the governor to continue initiating development projects in her ward saying the residents will reciprocate by voting him back since he has shown the potential of being a good leader ever since he took power as the first governor.
Kimilili parliamentary hopeful Didmus Wekesa urged the Anti-corruption commission to conduct a thorough investigation on one of a gubernatorial aspirants in Bungoma County after his company was linked to the NYS theft saga saying if found guilty he should be barred from contesting the seat as he will only come to loot the taxpayers money meant for development for the people of Bungoma County.
