Governor Kenneth Lusaka has graced the ground breaking ceremony for the construction of a KSh 272 Million ultra modern market at Kamukuywa in Kimilili Sub County.
The state of the art facility with a capacity of 4,000 traders will comprise stalls, banking hall, offices, sanitation facilities, open air retail space, paved drive ways and Baby care room.
Once complete, the market will be a relief to traders who ply their trade on dusty and unhygienic grounds besides the busy Kitale-Webuye tarmac.
The perimeter wall around the market and well fitted flood lights will ensure the safety of traders and their merchandise and enjoy a 24 hour business cycle.
Speaking at the function, Governor Kenneth Lusaka said the project was in line with his government’s plan to grow the Small and Medium Enterprises (SME’s) sector to propel the economy of the County.
Governor noted that the project will significantly improve the business environment at Kamukuywa which sits on a Webuye – Kitale highway.
Kimilili MP Didmus Barasa, CECMs, Chief officers, a host of MCAs and other leaders were present.
