Education CS Prof. George Magoha has revealed that funds have been released to primary and secondary schools. Speaking during a visit to Kisumu national polytechnic, he said secondary schools will be receiving the funds by Thursday. The Ministry of Education on Tuesday announced that primary and secondary schools will be reopened on 12th October, with Grade 4, Class 8 and Form 4 students reporting on that day.
CS Magoha has urged school principals in boarding secondary schools not to send children home due to fee arrears, “Every child must be admitted to school and the issue of fees must be sorted out later,” he said. He said the government can’t please everybody, following the shock announcement on the reopening of schools and that he has received positive reactions from parents over the same.
He further noted that children ought to be treated well, “Everybody is aware that Covid is here and has had effects on every family, including my extended family, and therefore we must treat our children with the love and empathy that is required.”
