An aspirant for the Busia Senatorial seat Hillary Mainga has told incumbent Amos Wako to step down and focus on his Geneva job.
Speaking when he joined Busia Governor Sospeter Ojaamong during the tour of Bunyala Sub County, Mainga who will battle it out with Wako in the ODM primaries said, “I respect the former Attorney General but my special appeal to him is to concentrate on his United Nations Job. He is too busy for the people of Busia. I have what it takes to send Wako packing during the primaries. Busia people need a person who is visible on the ground and who can discharge his duties diligently. That person is Hillary Mainga.”
The Governor’s tour confirmed the unity among the five parliamentary aspirants who will square it out at the primaries. They are former area MP Raphael Wanjala, Leonard Obimbira, Albert Gumo, David Obara and Andrew Nakitare.
The aspirants vowed to stick together after the nominations on condition that the exercise scheduled for Friday is conducted in a free and transparent manner.
Wanjala hit out the incumbent Ababu Namwamba for forsaking the party leader. “Raila made Ababu what he is today by appointing him Minister, Party Secretary General and PAC chairman but he ended up abusing the party leader,” said Wanjala. “I also say Otuoma ‘tawe’ (Not Otuoma). I am rooting for the Governor Sospeter Ojaamong to win the ODM primaries and Raila Odinga the presidency. It is unbelievable to see the price of maize meal surpass that of barley,” he said.
Obimbira found himself on the spot when his rivals told him to return to his job at the County Government and leave them the parliamentary seat.
Deputy Governor Kizito Wangalwa told Ababu it was good riddance for him to leave the party, adding that his departure had made the party more re-energized.
