John Makali scooped the ODM nomination in Kanduyi Constituency in Bungoma County. The Bungoma County Assembly Speaker defeated Edwin Sifuna and Gilbert Wangila. He had 6,473 votes, followed by Edwin Sifuna who got 3,111 while Gilbert Wangila garnered 234 votes.
There was a scare in the night, near the tallying centre where the Kanduyi constituency results were being released, at Bungoma DEB Primary School, when a petrol bomb was hurled towards the centre, but nobody was hurt as security officers took charge. John Makali was leading in over 25 polling stations out of 40. After the victory was confirmed, Makali thanked his supporters for voting for hi and urged them to go back to the drawing board as they prepare for the general elections, where he will face off with FORD-Kenya’s Wafula Wamunyinyi.
John Musundi emerged victorious in Webuye West, after he garnered 4,336 votes. His competitor Mr Kelly Walubengo got 1,536 votes. In Webuye East, Peter Khakina garnered 4,819 votes, while Kingsley Mutali got 225 votes.
