Kakamega Senator Cleophas Malala has affirmed that his bank accounts haven’t been frozen, contrary to reports that his accounts and Meru Senator Mithika Linturi’s accounts had been frozen. Speaking to the press, Malala cited intimidation, saying they are just speculations, “All these speculations were and to intimidate me on my stand on the third generation formula which is before the Senate.”
Malala is part of ‘Team Kenya’ which comprises of Senators who opposed the revenue allocation formula as presented by the Finance and Budget committee, key to deciding how Counties will receive the Kshs 316 billion allocation. Eight sittings have already been held in the Senate to discuss it, with Senators approving the latest amendments to the formula presented by Senator Linturi, which will ensure a win-win situation for gaining and losing Counties.
The Kakamega Senator added that his accounts are free of debt, “It has been confirmed that on all my accounts, both personal and business, that I owe no debt to KRA, in fact, KRA owes me 324 shillings,” he said.
