A 38 years old man on Monday appeared before the Kapenguria law court accused of found being in possession of 105 round of ammunition.
The accused Daniel Tarus Ruto was charged that on the 23rd, May, 2016 at around 10.00 am at Chesegon area within West Pokot County without reasonable excuse carried 105 rounds of ammunition of 7.62mm x 39 special in circumstances which raised reasonable presumption that the said ammunition were intended to be used in a manner prejudicial to public order.
It further stated that the Kenya Police Reservists were given information by members of the public that a certain suspicious person is being ferried by bodaboda heading toward Marakwet and after being way laid, the accused was found with the said ammunition being wrapped in a piece of socks and tied around his waist.
The principal magistrate Moses Machage said the offence is contrary to section 89(1) of the penal code.
Machage fixed mentioning date to 10th, June 2016 while hearing on 8th, August 2016 and the accused to remain in police custody.
Meanwhile in the same court a middle aged man, Philip Pkemoi appeared before the court accused of defiling a 5 years old girl.
Before the principal magistrate, Machage was Pkemoi was accused that on the 15th day of December 2015 around 7.00pm at Kaptakine village within Pokot Central Sub County he intentionally defiled the minor.
The court heard that the accused seduced the juvenile with ugali left over together with his younger brother and later he chased the brother out of the house and defiled the little girl while closing her mouth.
It continued that after accomplishing his mission, he chased away the complainant where she later reported to her mother when she arrived home where she was taken to the nearest dispensary.
The defilement offence is contrary to section 8(1) as read with section 8(2) of the sexual offense Act No 3 of 2006.
The hearing of the case will continue.
