A man was on Thursday arraigned in Court for impersonating a Kakamega based lawyer Wafula Wawire.
Before Kakamega Principal Magistrate Hazelle Wandera, Anderson Maina was accused of running a law firm using Wawire’s credentials at Khwisero area against the law.
According to Court Documents, Mr.Maina is alleged to have been offering consultancy services, legal agreement, and debt collection among other legal services for a period of three years hence siphoning money from unsuspecting clients.
The same document indicated that the accused has transacted more than 50 land transfer agreements through the complainant’s name. In the agreements, the accused is alleged to have falsified signatures of the complainant and used Mr Wawire’s official stamps in making the forms legit.
The accused had earlier made a request to settle the matter outside court but Magistrate Wandere ruled that the court was not aware of such agreement.
‘The accused was therefore granted a personal bond of Ksh.40, 000 and sureties of the same amount. The case was scheduled for mention on July 2 while the hearing is planned for August 4th.
