A 32 year old man from Kona junction village in Matunda sub location in Likuyani Sub County is nursing serious injuries after a friend chopped off his private parts, owing to a dispute surrounding Kshs 20. According to 68 year old Mary Waithera alias mama Githinji, his son Joseph Mwaura, a tout at the Kona junction matatu stage near Matunda market along the Kitale–Eldoret road differed with his friend Geoffrey Wafula Mutenyo over 20 shillings which they had been given by a matatu conductor to share Kshs 10 each and Wafula took a knife and chopped off his private parts.

She said the conductor threw a 20 shillings coin at them as the matatu was leaving the stage on Monday, Mwaura ran and picked the coin saying if it lands in his friend’s hands, he wouldn’t get his share.

However as he was going to look for change so that he could give Wafula his share, the latter followed and attacked him with kicks and blows and threw him on ground, demanding the coin.

Later Wafula removed a knife from his pocket and chopped off his private parts and fled from the scene leaving him bleeding profusely.

“I took my son, boarded a motorbike and went to Matunda police station where on looking at his situation the police offered to avail their vehicle and rushed him to Matunda sub county hospital where he was given First Aid before being referred to Moi Teaching and Referral Hospital Eldoret where he is currently admitted,” she said.

Mrs. Waithera who lives in abject poverty has appealed for assistance to settle hospital bill which has already hit Kshs. 50,000.

“My husband just disappeared mysterious without a trace about 30 years ago leaving me with seven children. I have struggled singlehandedly to bring them up without any source of income and none of them is employed, for now I have no means to enable me to raise the hospital bill,” said Waithera adding that she has another son who is admitted at the Kenyatta National Hospital Nairobi after he was attacked by thugs.

Mrs. Waithera has also appealed for justice for his son saying his future has completely been affected.
