Man dies while bathing in a dugout in Mautuma

The man's body was found in the dugout

A sorrowful mood engulfed Ivona Hills Mautuma location in Lugari Sub County after a 39 year old man drowned in a terrace.

According to the deceased’s daughter Lonah Mideva, her father Nathan Magomere had gone to bathe in the dugout when he met his death.

“He returned home at about 3pm took a soap and scrubber and headed to the dugout where he has been bathing in the recent past,” said the daughter.

She said she left to look for firewood and returned to prepare supper but got concerned after her younger brother inquired about their father’s whereabouts.

“I had assumed that after bathing he might have gone to the drinking den since he likes drinking,” said the daughter.

Unsettled, she decided to go and check where the father had gone to bathe and she was shocked to find his body lying in the terrace before she raised an alarm that attracted neighbours.

The body was later removed from the scene and taken to Chebaiywa mortuary in the neighbouring  Uasin Gishu County.
