A somber mood enveloped Marachi village in Marakusi sub location, Lugari sub county after a 57-year-old man drowned in Nzoia River. According to Mr. Mwangi Wanjala Luyingo, his cousin James Kondomu had gone to wash his clothes at the river when he drowned.
He said his body was seen floating on the water by a group of young men who had gone to scoop sand from the river.
According to Mr. Mwangi, the deceased was epileptic and that may have contributed to his tragic death, adding that he was alone at the river and nobody could’ve helped him when he experienced epileptic seizures.
The body was later removed from the river and the family pleaded with police officers to allow them to bury him claiming there are no queries or complaints over his death. “We all know our brother is epileptic and his death is a result of the disease, we have no any complaint about it,” said Beatrice Nabwire who is the sister to the deceased.
