Residents of Temba village, Ndivisi ward in Webuye East Constituency Bungoma County woke up to a great shock after Nickson Matumbai, 61, was found killed and his body dumped in the bush.
Speaking to the press on Saturday, Michael Wafula, son, condemned the incident saying that it’s a great blow to the family as the deceased was the sole breadwinner to the family.
“This is a great blow to us as the family because our father is the breadwinner of the family, may those who killed my father find no peace in their lives, father trail them to the bitter end,” he said.
Wafula appealed to the police officers from Webuye to launch speedy investigations and find the assailants adding that the deceased was a hardworking, focused person and his death has really shocked residents and the village.
Wafula said that the family was raised by noise from residents who had visited the scene of crime.
“We were at home. We did not know what had happened though our father did not return home after his daily activities,” he said.
He added that according to the privy investigations that have been done it is alleged that the deceased was murdered by his close friends who later escaped.
He said that the body of the deceased was found lying in a pool of blood with injuries on the head, shoulders, and hands and on the face.
He said that the objects that the assailants used to kill the deceased were also recovered.
James Makenzi, brother, told the press that Chang’aa brewing is high in the area asking the police officers to intervene and help end it.
It was an incident that was confirmed by area Assistant County Commissioner Charles Banda who said that so far two suspects have been arrested asking residents to be vigilant, work with the police and report suspicious individuals in the area.
Banda assured that investigations have been launched to arrest the culprits asking residents to be careful especially during this campaign season.
