Somber mood has engulfed Laini village Lelan ward West Pokot County after a man turned evil and murdered his own brother after alleging that the deceased had a love affair with his wife.
According to the family members, Simon Limareng aged 50 years started quarreling with his late brother Barnaba Limareng 35 years old on Tuesday morning claiming that the deceased had a love affair with his wife hence hunting him.
His younger brother Julius Mariach who witnessed the incident said on Tuesday morning the suspect confronted the deceased saying that the late Barnaba’s cows had grazed a portion of his millet and maize crops and persisted of killing him over the issue.

He further explained after a short scuffle between them the culprit started chasing his brother with a sharp knife insisting that he must butcher him.
Mariach said Limareng stabbed him more than 7 times on the stomach and chest inflicting deep cuts on the body hence succumbing to the injuries.
Some of family members efforts to terminate the scuffle could not prevent Limareng from stabbing his brother several times until he made sure he was dead.
The second wife of the deceased a mother of six Barnabs Chemuswo said her late husband requested his brother to forgive him but he continued to knife him.
“Immediately after confirming my husband was no more my brother in-law flee. He said he will come back to kill three more people from our family” she said.
The Mukoyon sub location assistant chief Lokeris Korwasha who confirmed the incident at the scene of murder said that he had tried solving the family wrangles that had been encountering the family members but the culprit failed to listen to him and insisted that he must kill somebody.
“I wrote a letter to him instructing him to go to Kabichbich police post to report on the case but he didn’t go and decided to take law into his hands” said chief Korwasha.

The area member of county assembly Paul Yaraki condemned the incident and asked residents to report such incidents to the authorities rather than punishing the other party.
“It’s like we have lost two people in our community. Who will take care of the kids?” He asked.
He criticized the police officers for failing to respond on time saying that the culprit had ran into hide out without police officers apprehending him.
“We have stayed with body for two days without them appearing at the scene of murder. The murderer is a threat to our security because he is claiming to come back and perform more murders” said Yaraki.
Speaking on Phone Pokot south sub county OCPD Benson Makori confirmed the incident and said the police officers are still searching for the culprit.
He said due to heavy rains that had pondered the area on Tuesday the road network was too inaccessible hence delaying them reaching the place.
The body of the deceased was later taken to Kapenguria County hospital mortuary awaiting postmortem
