Two hundred and sixty (260) advocates have been sworn in, in a ceremony that was presided over by the Chief Justice, David Maraga, at the Supreme Court.
The Chief Justice urged the new advocates to desist from actions which would derail and tarnish their profession, while insisting that they should take the job seriously. “The country is in dire need of professionals and your service in the Judicial service is required. Remember the society expects a lot from you,” said Maraga.
He reminded the new advocates of the immense task they are facing to deliver justice to the people of Kenya and observe the law.
“In taking the oath today before me, you agree to uphold your duties to your clients and the general public at large,” Justice Maraga said.
The Chief Justice said that there are many domestic cases which are still unattended to in court and he urged them to try and solve the domestic cases out of court once they come across them.
“We have not been able to solve these domestic cases and there are many files piled in our offices because the parties do not agree. So these cases should be handled out of court,” said the Chief Justice.
