TV journalist Jacque Maribe and her fiance Joseph Irungu will remain in remand pending hearing and determination of their bail. The two, who have been charged with the murder of Monica Kimani were arraigned at the Milimani Law Courts and pleaded not guilty, and Justice Jessie Lessit said the matter will be mentioned on Wednesday 17th October to give date for the hearing of their bail application.
Last week, the court ordered Maribe to undergo a mental assessment, and according to her lawyer Katwa Kigen, she is fit to stand trial after a psychiatrist exam confirmed she is mentally sound. Her co-accused Joe ‘Jowie’ Irungu was also given permission to get treatment on his left arm. On Monday, Kigen requested for close hearing dates, all prosecution documents, investigation diary and investigation officer’s statements, and Irungu’s counsel also asked the court to ensure he has received all documents and exhibits the prosecution will use.
