Maseno Sch knocked out of National Sec Sch games
The 2014 East African Secondary School rugby 15’s champions, Maseno School, were knocked out of the Brookside National Secondary School Term One Games at the Friends School Kamusinga in Bungoma County.
Maseno, who were last year’s losing finalists, went down 6-3 to Moi Sirgoi from Mau region to bow out of the games after their second defeat in the competition.
Sirgoi finished second in Pool ‘A’ with six points, three behind leaders Kakamega High.
The teams were tied 3-3 at the breather after Benjamin Okeyo kicked a drop penalty for Maseno before Leonard Kipchumba responded for Sirgoi before scoring the winning penalty.
Kakamega topped the pool with nine points after hammering Kangaru 32-0 in their final match.
In Pool ‘B’, Bungoma High School secured a place in the semis after a 8-3 win over three-time champions Mang’u High.
Bungoma finished second in the pool with six points while Upper Hill topped the pool with nine points.
Bungoma faces Kakamega in the semi final match today a repeat of the Regional final where Kakamega aged out Bungoma to take home the trophy.
In hockey girls East African champions Sinyolo Girls beat Nzoia region’s Tigoi Girls 2-0 in their final Pool ‘A’ match to reach the semis as Tigoi finished second with six points.
The 2014 champions St John’s Kaloleni also collected six points after beating Kapkolei Girls 3-1 but were relegated to third place due to inferior goal difference.

In Hockey boys Nzoia region representatives Kamusinga and St Anthony will have a born to chew together as they face off in the semi final match.
Kamusinga finished second in pool A after receiving a 1-0 beating from Maseno in the final match with St Anthony finishing top in pool be recording victory in all its group matches.
In another hockey boys quarter final national defending champions Naroc boys will be in a tough battle against Upper Hills that reached the semi-finals after beating Meru School 4-1.
In boys’ basketball, former champions Upper Hill ended their pool matches with an emphatic 104-20 win over Kapsabet Boys in Pool ‘B’.
Nzoia region representatives Kapenguria thrashed Aga khan 46 -28 to finish top in pool A and will face Alliance boys in the 1st semi.
In the next semi final pool B leader’s upper hills will battle it out with Aga Khan.
Nzoia region will miss a representative in the girl’s basketball semis after the elimination of St Brigids that finished third in its group 49-36 to the newcomers Kaya Tiwi from Coast region that topped Pool ‘A’.
Buruburu Girls beat Kirigara Girls 60-22 to finish second in pool ‘A’ to advance to the last four.
After the results Lake Region representatives Barchondo will play against Buruburu as Kaya meets Aberdare region giants Loreto Girls.
