There is a dire need of massive sensitization of voters across the wealthy voter zone of Western region as political parties across the country scramble to register larger number of voters ahead of the coming polls.
It is a pity when one walks across registrations centers only to be welcomed by a handful of voters while ironically the region records thousands of unregistered voters .
While millions of national identity cards are lying in registrations offices, one wonders what will transpire in the future leadership of Western Kenya.
The area has alarming number of unregistered voters since the exercise kicked off early last week with youth and women not showing up at all.
Across check at various centers shows fewer locals cueing up and some coming late a situation that threatens the future political leadership of Western Kenya.
It is amusing seeing a 90 year old granny in Central Kenya, North rift, South rift or Even Nyanza cue alongside youth waiting to be registered, it is an act they have mastered in years, no wonder such areas registers a pleasing number of voters.
The secret!!, let me tell you is public sensitization on the importance of leadership which does not come on a silver platter but through, registration as well as coming out in a abundance to vote on the D-day .
Now it is high time leaders from Western should come out of their political cocoons to sensitize voters through crusades everywhere to make valid their dream of leading the nation one time lest it be like looking for a maize seed in the thick dark .
Empowering the locals should be the driving force everywhere they meet to sing the lost rhythm ”Luhya Unity” something that has become a cliché.
The nominated legislator Patrick Wangamati once noted that economic empowered of the people of Western must be the daily talk of Western leaders.
Wangamati retaliated that youth and women must be empowered to stand on their own so as to shun being lured with mere handouts.
The gospel truth remains that our Leaders must desists from putting their interests first and lower their political quest to amass wealth at the expense of the poor natives. The locals should be empowered first to earn a living on their own before they can starting asking for votes .
As the adage goes ”Use money to get money”, leaders should start contemplating on how to fund women and youth projects, in fact using their money to get an upper hand in future polls, that way the region will have equipped youth who can register and participate in future elections.
Politicians across Western Kenya should ape they way leaders from other places are treating their own and not using funerals as grounds to preach the long awaited Luhya Unity to Materialize .
The egocentric leaders have been showing up only on funerals and instead of condoning with the bereaved they convert the place to be political ground s to quench their political thirst which is unacceptable.
It is discouraging that after knowing pretty well that ID cards are piling up in offices, the very leaders are warming their seats in parliament, senate and county assemblies and what have you not taking the step to do the right thing.
One wonders why is that other areas in Kenya, Central to be exact that plenty of people go to voter and register all the elections? Are their leaders better that ours? More elite? Don’t we have resources to martial up voters? Are we not united? You know the precise answer.
A day hardly comes to an end in Western without one hearing ” Luhya Unity”, it is a song that has becoming like a national anthem .
Why can’t they unite at once? The issue if selfish interest will kill the area politically, time is now for our leaders to come together read from the same script and champion the interest of the Western People.
The issue of bad blood, mushrooming of parties and self fish interest will instead kill the region politics and dreams.
The area need the brains of the late Michael Kijana Wamalwa, Moses Budamba Mudavadi, Martin Shikuku and Masinde Muliro, may God rest their soul in perfect peace, to articulate bravely matters affecting the region.
Aping is not bad, only remember to attribute our leaders must ape the brave brains that brought once Western Kenya on limelight
Elsewhere, the New Ford Kenya Party Bungoma branch has refuted claims of joining the Jubilee Alliance Party amidst massive allegations .
Martin Nyongesa the County chairman termed the allegations as mere propaganda aimed at tarnishing the party image ahead of the coming polls but instead confirmed talks are underway.
His sentiments comes barely a week after leaders from sub counties threatened to go court to petition the merger .
Led by Benjamin Nyongesa, the leaders claimed that NFK, was planning to join the Jubilee Alliance Party without involving them, a decision they vowed to reject and petition.
The county chair has however warned those propagating falsehood about the merger to desist from the act, noting they are not whatsoever entitled to speak on behalf of the NFK Party .
