Ampath, in collaboration with the Bungoma County government health department, has launched a two-year research project focusing on maternal health and children under five years old. The goal is to strengthen health service delivery.
Bungoma’s assistant health director, Dr. Emma Nyaboke, says the initiative aims to gather findings and determine how best to integrate the information to improve service delivery, building on existing efforts.
She expressed optimism that, by the end of the two-year program, they will have developed improved policies that will be crucial for delivering services across the county.
Dr. Samwel Mbugua from Ampath stated that they have established a task force to leverage the research findings in order to translate them into policies that can be used both in Bungoma County and across the country.
Angela Juma from Ampath emphasized the importance of maternal and child health, noting that the Scinop project is focused on strengthening policies. The findings from the research will help not only Bungoma but also other counties.
She also mentioned that previously, they had been working under the “Chamas for Change” program, which greatly benefited women through empowerment. She looks forward to a successful, sustainable policy revision that will create a lasting impact.
