Addressing the press after handing the construction site to the contractor, Bungoma Health CEC Anthony Walela said they expect the project to take six months the maternity wing to be up and running by the end of the year. He urged the contractor to do a good work. He said the maternity wing will go a long way to support the huge population in Webuye East. He urged members of the community to keep a close eye on the project’s progress and reminded them to keep observing all the Covid-19 health directives.
On his part, Ndivisi MCA Martin Wanyonyi Pepela said apart from the Sinoko maternity wing, the County administration is set to set up others at Khaoya and Misemwa dispensaries, with more than Kshs 13 million pumped into the projects. He appreciated the good work being done by the Bungoma County Ministry of Health, saying it has been on the forefront in terms of service delivery in Ndivisi ward and expressed confidence that the projects will be finished on time.
However, he urged the contractors to work together with the community and ensure that youths get the casual jobs under the three projects, and tat he won’t accept people from outside the community to do the casual tasks that can be done by the residents. One of the contractors, Mr Dan Simiyu appreciated the County Health docket and the area MCA for awarding him the tender, and given that he hails from Webuye East, he’ll do an excellent job. He also noted that all Covid-19 health directives will be followed during the construction process.
