Matiang’i hailed for disbanding KNEC board
Bungoma County women Representative Dr. Reginalda Wanyonyi has applauded the move by education cabinet secretary Fred Matiang’i of disbanding the Kenya National Examination Council (KNEC) board members pending further investigations after issues of examination leakages were experienced during last year’s KCSE examinations.
While addressing parents at St. Kizito Sirende secondary school in her backyard of Tongaren constituency after opening three classes and a dormitory funded by the ministry of education at a cost of five million, Dr. Reginalda hailed Matiang’i for disbanding KNEC board said having a transparent board for the council is critical in ensuring there is a level plain field for everyone who is to sit for the examination.
She disclosed that it is unfortunate that some of the students have been punished by their examination results being cancelled saying the people responsible for having leaked the examination from the council itself should have been held liable for they are the root cause of all the problem.

However she called upon the Education CS Matiang’i and other stakeholders to ensure the successive board should be able to carry out its mandate in a systematic and transparent manner so as not to experience such issues of examination leakages again in future as it has so much tarnished the reputation of the examination council.
Dr. Reginalda however challenged the stakeholders of the school to lay down strategies of improving performance in the school saying she is willing to have more development projects be initiated in the school.
“With the number of girls in the school overshadowing the boys I propose that the school be converted to a girls school and a separate boys school be started nearby to ensure both of them acquire education to fulfill their dreams in life” she said
Being a member of the New Ford Kenya party Dr. Reginalda also applauded the efforts of the Jubilee government and the County government of Bungoma for the many development projects they have initiated saying since independence much has been able to be achieved in less than two years as compared to the many years other governments were in power.

She further asserted that the office of the women representative has been able to achieve a lot including projects achieved through Uwezo fund and the recent affirmative action fund meant to empower women in their own capacities to be vibrant and start up development projects.
The school Principal Evelyn Bukhuni called upon parents and other stakeholders to work together towards realizing an improved means score in the school saying teamwork will always achieve better results.
