Matulo MCA highlights competition between urban and rural schools

Kenyans should do away with the mentality that schools in urban areas are entitled to perform better than schools in rural areas in national exams according to Matulo MCA Paul Wanyonyi. Addressing mourners in Sitikho ward at Box one during the burial of Mzee Bomu Wanjala, the father of Joyce Nekesa, a member of ZaKisasa Msamaria Mwema West FM Salaams Club, Matulo MCA Paul Wanyonyi said that there are leaders who have a tendency of giving such utterances, and he urged them to set the bar higher past that mentality, and work towards ensuring all schools compete favourably.

“We’ll not encourage leaders comparing schools in rural and urban areas in education performance. Schools in the rural areas used to produce professors, we should ask ourselves what has happened and we should check on the factors resulting to poor performance,’ posed Wanyonyi

Wanyonyi stated that as leaders from the region they should work together with teachers and parents to ensure good results are recorded in rural schools. “As leaders, we should join hands by setting up the infrastructure that will help our children to meet the standards required to compete with other schools,” asserted Wanyonyi.
